The Long Weekend

We were very excited at our house to have the long weekend. With Aaron being gone for two weeks, we were very glad he got to stay home and hang out with us for a few days. We invited My mother in law and brother in law for the weekend. We had a lot of fun. They arrived Saturday morning first thing. We were able to go out to eat. Later that afternoon my mother in law thought it would be fun to bring some Catfish back to Missouri for a fish fry. Boy was that an experience at the Fish Market. We went and picked some fish out. (By the way the butcher had to "stun" the fish. Meaning he had to hit one with a bat to keep it still while he was weighing them. Then he had to descale them and prepare them for us to take home.) I like catfish but I think I will stick to buying them at a grocery store. Later that evening Aaron make some fried catfish and fiend vegetable. It was a fun Southern experience but I think I prefer my vegetables steamed. I also was able to go shopping and pick oput my birthday present. It was very enjoyable and fun to spoil myself. On Sunday we relaxed and enjoyed our company. Aaron cooked up some pork ribs. They were delicious. I missed Aaron being gone and I sure did miss his cooking as well. Aaron is a great chef and I am so glad that he is so helpful with the cooking. Monday was great just taking it slow. I was also able to go shopping and get some things for the boys. As we have been having Spring like weather conditions already and we needed some short sleeve shirts. I also wanted to get a jump start on our Easter outfits.

That sounds like an exciting weekend...who knew that you could have your catfish "tenderized" with a bat at the fish market!
