The Latest

I thought I would at least update the latest picture of the kids, even though I am not blooging anymore. I miss it but it's just one of those things that is hard to fit in.

Happy Birthday Byrd Family

The other day Mateo asked when our family's birthday was. Not knowing how to reply, I said, "Our family's birthday is the day Mommy and Daddy got married." Luckily Mateo was satisfied with the answer. So when our anniversary came around, I had to think what our family birthday present would be. We got a new BLU Ray DVD player along with a few new movies. I think the boys are just excited to have a dvd player that they have access to watching their movies. Aaron and I were able to celebrate as well. We went to the movies without our children which happens about once a year. We had a fun night, especially since it was completed with snow on our drive to pick up the kids. It reminds me of our anniversary get away last year.

The Byrd family has just celebrated 7 years of learning, growing and love

we now have 6 members in our family, yes we did add an adorable dog to our family.

we have had 5 different addresses

we have owned 4 vehicles

Jacob is 23 months already!

Jacob is almost two. Each month brings new things that Jacob has learned and reminds me how quickly he is growing. Jacob continues to be very enjoyable. One thing he has learned is how to say, more and no. The word more sounds like mo but at least he is increasing his vocabulary. Although it is tough to understand Jacob still because when he talks to you, he thinks he is speaking clearly and he's not. However the word NO is very clear. He is missing daddy and Adan while they are gone. In fact he spends his time walking around the house asking for dad and Adan most days. He is getting use to having just mom around. However he does get to do lots of fun things so I don't think he minds. Although I think he'd pass on spending so much time driving everyone around. Plus, he can be so quiet at home and doesn't make messes that we usually have a clean house these days.
We just put Jacob in a toddler bed, which he is enjoying. He does great at night staying in his bed, however I am not enjoying nap times on the days we pick Mateo up before lunch. He has had a couple of days with no nap, which hasn't been too bad, except that I can't get my usual stuff done. We are really looking forward to his
2nd birthday and continuing to watch him grow.

Reflection

My heart is so heavy and I am so saddened at the recent news I received while I was at the doctor's office Monday. Our pediatrician mentioned that it was thought that a little girl had died Sunday of Bacterial Meningitis but it had not been confirmed. So words cannot describe how I felt when Aaron sent me a link to the Vicksburg Post about that little girl that confirmed what the pediatrician had told me Monday.

I am truly saddened for this family, as I have gone through a lot of the emotions they under went this weekend. However at the same time I feel so blessed. Why? I cannot always say why but I am blessed with so many things. So blessed that I have the knowledge of eternal families(which was a comfort when we were unsure of the outcome with Mateo's illness) and that for some reason unknown to me at this time, that my little boy survived this same illness. I love Mateo so much and am so thankful everyday that he is still here with us. Although he can be challenging at times. He is such a blessing to our lives. He is the most loving and caring child anyone could ask for. In fact he can often be heard saying kind, sweet words that you wonder where he came up with these things.

My thoughts and prayers are with this family. I cannot even begin to imagine how they feel. What I do know is that Heavenly Father has a plan for us and that he hears and answers prayers. I hope my prayers of comfort will be far reaching. As I will be praying for this family.
I also hope we take this opportunity to enjoy are loved ones each day as we never know when we will have to say goodbye.
