WOW the month is more than 1/2 over
I am behind on posting. We have been so busy since the last time I posted. Over Mother's Day weekend we made more preparations for our trip to Utah. We purchased 5 suitcases and four carrying on bags. My poor sister. We have so much stuff we are bringing. Good thing she hasn't seen us in awhile and is thrilled we are coming to stay with her for 6 weeks. Buying the suitcases, packing them and then packing up our house has been a lot of hard work but it is making this whole thing more real. Also, it seems as if the boys have made quite of changes.
Mateo has done it. He is potty trained. He was so easy and to think after the first three days I wanted to give up. He stays dry all day and night. He goes to the potty with no assistance. We no longer give him incentives for going to the potty. I cannot believe he is done. It was so fun for Mateo to go to several end of the year outings for Adan. We went swimming. Since it was kind of a cool morning the water was pretty cold. Mateo was the only one who stayed in the water the majority of the time. Then when it came time to go he cried and cried. You could tell he was the only 2 year old in the bunch with his tantrum. We also had a field day. They raced by classes. Mateo jumped in and joined the races and actually did well against the four and five years olds and beat some of them. In fact one of the moms thought Mateo was Adan. He is so tall that he looks like he is Adan's twin. He really enjoys just being himself though. He is good about reminds us who his is. He will say I AM MATEO. It does not bother him to play by himself. (Although Adan prefers to have him by his side). The biggest worry for Mateo is if I have enough time to play with him and read to him. We cannot put him in bed without at least one story. Tonight he mentioned to me that I could just set Jacob down and hold him and read to him. I have been noticing that Jacob's demands on me have been affecting Mateo the most. So tonight, while I would have liked to go to the grocery store alone. Instead I decided that I needed to take him on an outing. I think he has noticed more since he started potty training that he had to stay at home more. Now he is great though like I mentioned. We have even gone on several long car rides and he has been fine.
Jacob is changing so much. He still is so attached to me. He now sits in the booster seat to eat at the table. He takes baths in the bath tub. I have even put all three boys in at the same time. The big boy's do not like it much because their is not much water to splash and create a flood. Jacob is working on his pincher grasp. He loves to pick up food and eat it himself. His favorite food is definately pancakes. His newest thing is the army crawl/scoot. Today he actually crawled from the front room into the kitchen. He cried the whole time until he reached me. He is getting good and my wish of him not crawling until Utah is probably not going to happen.
Adan has had a great year at Crawford Street Playschool. His teacher was great! I am really sad to leave the preschool and just hope it works out to get Mateo back in when we return. Adan really enjoys being a big brother. He prefers to play with Mateo if he will do what he wants him to do. He really does love to play with Jacob though. He enjoys holding him and feeding him. He just does a great job. He like to work and help me do things. I know it will be fun to have him home all the time and he is rather willing to help out. With all the time at home also comes lots of fighting with Mateo. I have created a sticker chart for Adan. For each half a day that he does not fight with Mateo, he earns a sticker. After he fills up his chart, he will earn a train. This is going to be challenging for Adan. Adan is very use to Mateo just giving in and essentially being the peacemaker. Now that Mateo is getting older he is standing his ground a little more than he use to.
Well I really look forward to the summer. We have lots to look forward to. Lots of plans and things to keep us occupied.
Enjoy the summer. We look forward to all the family and friends we will be seeing soon.
I have more to post but I figure that is enough info for everyone to read in one sitting. More to come. Come back soon!
